What data we collect

When you use the gift finder, we send your answers — which may include occasion, recipient type, relationship, personality traits, interests, past gift types, budget, and vibe — to the Claude AI API to generate recommendations. We do not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information. No account is required to use WhyPonder.

How your answers are used

Your inputs are used solely to generate personalised gift recommendations in real time. They are not stored on our servers after the response is returned, and they are not used to build a profile about you.

Third-party AI (Anthropic / Claude)

Gift recommendations are generated by Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic. Your finder answers are transmitted to Anthropic's API to produce results. Anthropic's own privacy policy governs how they handle API data. We do not send any additional personal information to Anthropic.

Affiliate links

WhyPonder participates in affiliate programmes including the Amazon Associates Program. When you click a link to a retailer and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps keep the service free. We may add further affiliate partners in the future.

Cookies & analytics

We use minimal analytics to understand how the app is used in aggregate (for example, how many searches are performed and which occasions are most popular). We do not use advertising cookies or sell data to third parties.

Children's privacy

WhyPonder is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the date below. Continued use of WhyPonder after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
